I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming hotel tucked away in a picturesque location. The hotel exudes a delightful European ambiance, yet embraces the natural beauty and essence of Japan. Surrounded by ancient temples, vibrant red bridges, and breathtaking sakura blossoms in the spring, this hotel truly captures the essence of Matsushima. Offering a unique experience, you can climb up a winding staircase to a turret-like area, where you'll find a giant chair offering mesmerizing views and a perfect spot to witness the enchanting moonlit nights over the islands. For those who prefer a relaxing soak, there is also a fascinating iron jar in the bathing area filled with hot water, providing a therapeutic experience.
All in all, my experience at this hotel was satisfactory.

Can't fault anything about it.

the location was fantastic, just a short walk from the fish market where we had some delicious seafood. We also climbed up to the turret-like area, which had breathtaking views of the surrounding area. the traditional Japanese facilities such as the onsen and dining room were a great touch. the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. We loved the unique design of the hotel and the authentic atmosphere it provided.
The room was a bit small for our liking, but we didn't mind too much as we were out exploring most of the time.

We had a great city escape at a hotel that offered fantastic views of the sea and was conveniently located near the train station, boat tours, and museums. the breakfast was outstanding with a wide selection of typical food. the private baths were a great retreat and the tubs were perfect for relaxing.
Although the waiters were friendly, the language barrier made communication a bit difficult, and reservations at the hotel restaurant were required but not mentioned beforehand. Lastly, the rooms were quite small, but the bathroom was decent.

Secondly, the location of the hotel was perfect - it was conveniently close to interesting sites such as the fish market and even had a turret-like area with breathtaking views. Lastly, the rooms had a relaxing atmosphere and were equipped with all the basic amenities I needed. I also have to mention the breakfast, which was absolutely delicious and served with great attention to detail.

This hotel truly offers a unique experience. From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by its European charm, reminiscent of a 1930's home. The attention to detail was remarkable, from the intricate winding staircase leading up to a turret-like area with breathtaking views, to the relaxing atmosphere in the rooms. We were also pleased with the friendly and helpful staff who spoke English well enough to communicate everything necessary. The location was perfect, near the fish market and other interesting sites, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the local culture. And let's not forget about the delicious plated breakfast they served us - it was a delightful start to our day.
No complaints at all, it was a flawless stay.

The breakfast was amazing! We were served a plated meal that was delicious and well-prepared. The location of the hotel, although a little uphill, was still great, with easy access to the train station and other attractions. The staff were friendly and accommodating, providing excellent recommendations for restaurants and a shuttle service to and from the train station. The private baths were a nice touch too, providing a relaxing way to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
The downside of the location is that it was a bit remote, making it a bit cumbersome to go out to dinner, especially without a car. We were expecting a restaurant to dine in but it turned out to be closed. Unfortunately, the language barrier with the staff could have been a bit of an issue at times. Although they were friendly and tried their best, communicating could get a bit difficult.

The unique jazz music and wood fire in the evening made for a cozy, relaxing atmosphere. The hotel's proximity to the town and park, easy access to a washing machine and dryer, and friendly, helpful staff were a nice touch. Additionally, we enjoyed the comfortable beds, clean bathroom, and the traditional Japanese baths that exceeded our expectations. The free shuttle service to the station was very convenient.
Cannot find any fault.
